Hugh Jackman will be starring in at least one more Wolverine solo movie (tentatively referred to as Wolverine 3), before he’s done playing Logan in the X-Men movie franchise. The new film is slated for release in 2017 and shall reunite Jackman with his The Wolverine director James Mangold – but beyond that, details are scarce right now.
David James Kelly, who penned a script for Fox’s Daredevil movie reboot that never happened, was previously reported to be working on the Wolverine 3 script (under Mangold’s guidance) – possibly borrowing plot elements from the “Old Man Logan” comic book storyline for his screenplay. The Wrap is reporting that Michael Green has now taken over Wolverine 3 screenwriting duties, with Mangold still actively overseeing the script development process. Green has been quite busy of late; he worked on the screenplays for Blade Runner 2 (which begins shooting next year) and Prometheus 2 (potentially Ridley Scott’s next project), in addition to collaborating with Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller on the American Gods TV series adaptation (expected to premiere on Starz in 2016).
