‘Terminator Genisys’ Images Highlight Sarah Connor, Old T-800, and J.K. Simmons’ Character

This summer’s Terminator: Genisys is bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the Terminator franchise, where he will be surrounded by younger cast members playing characters both new and familiar. Schwarzenegger’s costars here include Jai Courtney (The Divergent Series: Insurgent) as the latest cinematic iteration of the Kyle Reese character, alongside Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as the latest face of iconic sci-fi action hero Sarah Connor.

J.K. Simmons – fresh off his Oscar-winning performance in Whiplash – has what he’s described as a “smaller part” in the Genisys story, though Simmons has kept quiet about his role beyond that. However, in the past, it has been reported that the actor is playing an “alcoholic detective” who’s spent decades keeping tabs on Sarah Connor – since, in the film’s new timeline, Sarah was orphaned when she was nine years old (as the result of yet another SkyNET assassination attempt) and thereafter raised by the T-800 who saved her.
